Halloween is a time for tricks, treats, and scares! There are plenty of tabletop games that incorporate each of these themes into their characters and gameplay. A lot of board games are based on licensed properties that rise in popularity around Halloween too because they feature witches, ghosts, or other spooky specters. Movies like Alien and Hocus Pocus have seen board game adaptations that offer something for new and old fans alike.

Halloween is a great time to break out a spooky board game for a good time and there are a good number of themed games to choose from. The best ones are great for everyone and feature creativity in their gameplay. It's also key that they don't take too long to play so there is still plenty of time for trick-or-treating.

Return of the Headless Horseman Game is based on the classic Disney movie and features art and designs based on those from the movie. Players work together to help get Ichabod Crane through the spooky Sleepy Hollow before the Headless Horseman catches up and beheads him.

Players take turns choosing from a pile of cards, trying to match other players in order to move Ichabod around the board to the finish, while trying to avoid Horseman cards. The game is fast, fun, and family-friendly, perfect for a mixed-age Halloween board game night.

Hocus Pocus: The Game is based on the classic Disney movie that recently got a sequel. In this game, the nefarious Sanderson sisters are brewing up some trouble and it's up to two-to-six players to stop them. Players draw ingredient cards and add them to the cauldron. If they can match five ingredients, one of the witches is stunned.

In Hocus Pocus, players must stun a witch three times to win the game. There are also spells to be cast and trick tokens that add a few surprises to the gameplay. The game also comes in a neat book-design box so it'll look great on a bookshelf, or be displayed as a decoration.

Universal Monsters FunkoVerse Strategy Game is a game that celebrates the 100 years of the classic Univeral Monsters. The game features four different scenarios for two to four players to experience, each offering a unique way to play the game.

Players control one of four classic monsters including The Bride of Frankenstein, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, and The Invisible Man, each featured as a Funko Pop! playable figure. Each character has abilities that players must use across familiar locations from the classic movies to gain points and achieve victory. Players can combine this game with other FunkoVerse for a truly multiversal experience.

A game set in a fun-filled pizza party restaurant sounds great, until the reality of it being Freddy Fazbear's restaurant settles in. The Five Nights At Freddy's Night Of Frights! Game is based on the Five Nights At Freddy's video game. But instead of surviving, players become the evil animatronic mascots and hunt down the security guard.

Whoever gets to the guard first, wins. There are items to gather to assist, and each character has a unique skill to use. Instead of surviving the horror experience like in the FNaF video games, players get to release their inner demons and play the bad guy in this game for two to four players.

Gloom is a game of woeful tales depicting tragedy, horror, and misfortune. Players take control of an eccentric family and try to compile the worst family history out of the group, filling their lives with tales of tragedy, unpleasantness, and misfortune.

Gloom players also try to cheer up opponent families by using cards to give them happy life events like marriage. The player with the lowest family value wins the game. There are several versions of Gloom out there, including ones that add new locations, guests, and even some Lovecraftian horror.

In Horrified: American Monsters, up to five players must save a little town from classic American Cryptids. These folklore monsters include Bigfoot, the Jersey Devil, Mothman, the Chupacabra, the Ozark Howler, and the Banshee of the Badlands.

In Horrified, players work together to move through the town and complete challenges in order to defeat all the monsters on the board. Characters have perks to be used throughout the game, and there are also items that lend a hand to defeating the monsters. Each monster has a unique challenge and each subsequent defeat is different.

In Alien: Fate of the Nostromo, up to five players are thrown into the world of the iconic movie Alien. Players take on the roles of classic members of the Nostromo spaceship, like Ripley, Lambert, and Dallas, while an Alien wanders the corridors.

Players work together to move through the ship, gather supplies, and craft items to survive. They have starting objectives to complete and then one of several final missions to complete in order to win the game. All the while, there can be Alien encounters that kill off players and ultimately, end the game. Cooperation and strategy are key in Fate of the Nostromo, but it can also be played solo!

In Betrayal At House On The Hill, players procedurally explore a haunted mansion, placing tiles during turns to expand the playing area and discover new rooms. Rooms can feature items or haunts that affect each player's stats positively or negatively for the rest of the game.

Once the maximum number of Omens is reached, a final scenario kicks into play, turning one of the players evil and against the others. There are dozens of different final scenarios, and each one has a unique way for either side to win, so get ready for a scary good time full of mystery, creepiness, and betrayal.

In the mysterious village setting of One Night Ultimate Werewolf, people have been disappearing and a werewolf is the suspect. The village has gathered and suspects one of their own. Who is it? And who is helping them? It's up to the group to figure it all out in this role-playing mystery game of bluffing, deception, trust, and accusations.

Each player in One Night Ultimate Werewolf is dealt a card with a role on it, and through turns, must discuss with the rest of the group who they think the werewolf is. Certain characters have abilities and goals in order to win the game. An added app has atmospheric music to set the mood.

Nyctophobia means "fear of the dark" and Nyctophobia the game takes full advantage of that. This board game is a truly unique, unsettling, and spooky experience that is a must-play for any board game fan. It is a cooperative tactile maze game for three to five players. One player acts as the Hunter, while the other players slip on blindfolds and become the Hunted.

The Hunted must navigate the maze, find the car space, and survive long enough for the police to rescue them. The Hunter, either an axe murderer or a mage, keeps their vision intact and must hunt down and eliminate the other players in order to win. It's a freaky experience and full of shrieks, startles, and screams. All in all, Nyctophobia is the perfect game for Halloween.
