Sabacc's introduction was teased in January when a toy listing from McFarlane Toys was leaked, which included the DC Comics supervillain. Created by Otto Binder and Al Carreno, Sabbac first appeared in 1943's Captain Marvel, Jr. #4. With powers similar to the Shazam family, Timothy Karnes was able to trigger his transformation into the demonic entity, Sabbac, with a magical word as well, only instead of "Shazam," the word was "Sabbac." McFarlane Toys will also introduce several other Black Adam figures, including Black Adam, Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Cyclone, Hawkman and Atom Smasher.

Currently, the actor portraying Sabbac has not been officially confirmed. However, actor Marwan Kenzari joined the cast of Warner Bros.'s Black Adam in February 2021 in a mystery role. Starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the title role, Black Adam is a spinoff of 2019's Shazam!. Along with Sabbac, the film will mark the DCEU debut of the JSA (Justice Society of America), which will consist of Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone.

In a previous interview, Brosnan described the upcoming DCEU installment as an ensemble film. "You have Dwayne [Johnson], who's at the pinnacle of his fame and fortune and success and popularity," he said. "He is magnificent as Black Adam. We are the Justice Society and there's four of us, so we became a strong quartet of actors."

Originally scheduled to release in December 2020, Black Adam officially began filming in April 2021 after a lengthy delay due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Throughout the months of filming, Johnson was open about his intense training schedule for the role of the titular anti-hero, routinely posting updates on his diet and fitness regimen. On top of that, Johnson also shared several behind-the-scenes looks from the Black Adam set, including teases of his costume as well as the film's "cutting edge" technology.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam stars Johnson as the titular anti-hero and arrives in theaters July 29, 2022.
