Image Comics and Skybound present an exclusive look at I Hate This Place #2, by Kyle Starks and Artyom Topilin.

Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment provided CBR with an exclusive first look at I Hate This Place #2, by writer Kyle Starks (Assassination Nation, The Six Sidekicks of Trigger Keaton), artist Artyom Topilin (Ice Cream Man Presents Quarantine Comix Special), colorist Lee Loughridge (Deadly Class) and letterer Pat Brosseau (Birthright).

In the first issue of I Hate This Place, Gabby and Trudy inherited a cattle form owned by the former's great aunt and uncle. However, after arriving, they discovered the place was more than it seemed on the surface and were attacked by a number of horrific creatures. Making matters worse was the appearance of Adrian/Itchy, a gangster who at the start of the comic murdered one of his allies while trying to recover a bunch of stolen money.

The two then reveal their new home is haunted, and she recommends they go to a medium to get help. She gives them a tarot card reading in which three Death cards come up, despite there only being one in the deck. The cards then flutter around the room and cut up Miss Faye's hands. She yells at them to leave.

The plot synopsis for I Hate This Place #2 reads, "Gabby and Trudy are trapped. It’s literally Hell on Earth. But the true monsters may not be who they seem..." You can see CBR's exclusive look at the issue below.

Speaking about I Hate This Place, Starks said, "I want to sincerely thank the retailers and the fans for the huge early success of I Hate This Place. It's the biggest launch of my career and that is entirely thanks to all of you. This is just the start of what, I assure you, is going to be wild, fun, monstrous ride of a series completely worthy of your support, even with a curse word in the title. I promise I most likely won't do it again."

CBR's review of I Hate This Place #1 praised the series, calling it a "surreal, funny, and gruesome debut issue." Our review also praised the way the book set up both the mysteries and horrors of I Hate This Place's world and immediately provided characters that the reader could care about.
